The word "PULAU" in Bahasa (the official and most spoken language in Indonesia) means island.
As soon as we arrived at Sekupang port, we noticed that the landscapes were very different from the big mirror buildings seen in Singapore, here we've met for the first time in Asia some natural palms and sand.

We agreed (me and Ramses) to meet up outside the harbour, I had to inform him when we would arrive there but I had no credit on my phone and we didn't find any Wi-Fi hotspot available, but fortunately we just needed to wait 30 minutes and finally I recognized from far our new friend!
He came with his boss and he brought us to their school: they kindly asked to us to talk with their schoolchildren, because the island is not very famous for tourism and local people, more so for children, would be a great event to meet some people from abroad and talk with them.

When we were moving from the harbour to the school, we noticed that traffic was very chaotic, and we even realized that the island is very poor, and from any side of the window we've seen rusty sheds, broken street signals, holes on the asphalt and crumbling buildings.
Things get better when we arrived in the main city of Nagoya.
People here are so lovely, after a 30 minutes chat with the children, the guys brought us on a small restaurant next to the school to get lunch, we wanted to taste some particular dishes from Indonesia, and we got some rice with buffalo meat (delicious) some golden fish and other kinds of goodness.
The particular thing is that Indonesian people eat with bare hands, you can find at the table a sort of plastic teapot, which is filled with clean water to wash the hand before to eat.
We were even really surprised and thankful to the fact that his boss offered the lunch to us, so even if tourists realize that these places are a bit poor, local people don't hesitate to let you feel at your home.

ACCOMODATION
Even in this case I had to change something on my plans, because when I performed the request on Couch Surfing, I thought I was by myself in this part of the trip, but while I was staying in Singapore an Italian friend that I met in Australia (Vince) joined me from Kuala Lumpur, so in order to be fair with Ramses (he could only host one person) we booked a twin room at the
Grand Palace Hotel.
So we decided to make a reservation in that place for three reasons: the first of all because the price for the twin room was pretty cheap, it was located in the centre of Nagoya and because we didn't find any sort of youth hostel through search engines or among the most important websites for backpackers
(Hostelworld or TripAdvisor to name a few).
